The Update Method for Microsoft Office LTSC 2024.

Our customer has over 20,000 devices including Desktops and Notebooks in over 400 offices in the security network.

We are upgrading the Microsoft Office 2016 version to Office LTSC 2024 version.

Refer to the Microsoft’s information, the Microsoft LTSC 2024 patch update are no longer support by WSUS. However, the customer security network does not allow client connect to CDN and they do not have Microsoft Configuration Manager. Therefore, we follow the Microsoft recommendation to develop the File Share Server and using the Folder Sharing for client devices.

In the pilot phase, we have no received any problem. However, we have received some users reported the Microsoft office LTSC 2024 show update error and cannot start up Word or Excel when around 5000 devices upgrade.

Question 1: Is it the update error may caused the limit overed using Folder Sharing method for update?

Question 2: Shall I have information about the resource limitation for using Folder Sharing method for update. Such as network, RAM and CPU in server?

Question 3: Since the full source of Office LTSC 2024 is around 4GB size. Shall I know network resource used for “Client to Sharing Server” and “Client to CDN”?

Question 4: Microsoft mentioned the scheduled task of "Office Automatic Updates 2.0", shall I control this scheduled task to prevent All client connect for update as same time? How to do it.
