ToDo Theme Does Not Change to Dark Mode

When I switch Windows 11 theme to dark mode, Outlook & Calendars switch to dark mode, but ToDo does not. Using win11 365 desktop classic. This issue is tough on the eyes at night when everything is in dark mode, except ToDo...

Thank you,

    Dear @Lucas Mojo,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Microsoft To Do does support dark mode, but it relies on its own setting rather than fully syncing with Windows 11’s theme. You can choose Dark, Light, or Use my Windows theme in To Do settings. In this case, To Do’s dark mode behavior is controlled at the app level, and Microsoft has not committed to making it fully automatic with Windows theme changes.

Therefore, the best workaround for now is manually set Dark mode in To Do settings:

    Option 1: To Do App

    • Open Microsoft To Do App
    • Go to Settings (gear icon at the bottom left).
    • Under Theme, make sure it’s set to Dark Theme or Use my Windows theme

    Note:

    • Ensure you have the latest version of Microsoft To Do from Microsoft Store or Office updates. Older versions sometimes ignore system theme settings.
    • Occasionally, theme changes don’t apply until you restart the app or sign out/in.

    Option 2: To Do web

Moreover, I completely agree that having Microsoft To Do align with Windows 11’s dark mode is an important feature, especially for reducing eye strain and ensuring a consistent experience across apps. In this case, your feedback is valuable in helping Microsoft prioritize improvements. We strongly encourage you to share this suggestion directly with the Microsoft product team.
