Microsoft authenticator endless loop

I can't sign in to the authenticator. my situation is: i am signed in to office on my macbook so i have access to 365 and most utilities. however, when i try to open certain applications, i am given the authenticator code to type in on my phone. this would be fine, but i am not signed in to the authenticator on my phone, and to sign in to the authenticator on my phone, i need a code which has been 'sent to my mobile device' but im already on my mobile device so it doesn't come up.

so basically: i need to sign in on my macbook to a certain page, so it gives me a code on my mobile device but im not signed in on my mobile device or any mobile device. then when i try to add the account to my mobile device, it sends a code to my mobile device, which obviously i cant see because im already trying to sign in on the mobile device. so i need to get signed in on the mobile device somehow without it asking to verify through the authenticator
