How to log into Microsoft authentication without verification code?

I am trying to use the Microsoft authenticator app to log into my school canvas account. It is asking me to log into the authenticator app in order to verify but I am also having to verify the log-in on the authenticator app. But, I am unable to verify it because I am not yet logged in. I am not sure what to do and I am not able to access my school courses until I can verify this.
