Cannot set up Onedrive Personal Vault

I just signed up for 365 and am trying to set up the Personal Vault. I verify the number and it asks to set up a PIN, I do and it starts all over as if I had done nothing. I have uninstalled the updates and reinstalled. I have restarted my phone. I have cleared the cache, and cleared the data. NOTHING WORKS. I have tried dozens of times and every time is the same result.

I had the same problem - I did THIS and it worked (finally)

Signed out of One Drive on BOTH old and new android devices

Uninstalled OneDrive on BOTH devices

Turned off VPN on BOTH devices

Re-installed One Drive on OLD device and Logged back in

Completed Personal Vault set up on OLD device (successfully) and picked new 6 digit PIN in the process

Re-Installed OneDrive on New Device

Logged into OneDrive on New Device

Completed Personal Vault setup on New device, using SAME 6 digit PIN as old device.

Personal Vault setup on New device Completed Successfully I am very curious if this works for anyone else.

Signed out of One Drive on BOTH old and new android devices

Uninstalled OneDrive on BOTH devices

Hi Dan,

Thanks for writing to the Community. Many Android users are experiencing a frustrating loop issue with OneDrive's Personal Vault setup after setting a PIN. By the way, what is the make and model of the phone you use with one drive? Here is the first workaround you can try. Sign out of OneDrive app. Next, clear the app's data and cache in Settings > Apps > OneDrive > Storage. Then, reinstall or re-enable the app from the Play Store. Lastly, when setting up the Personal Vault, use the same PIN as your phone’s lock screen PIN for better results.

If the first workaround doesn't work, some users recommend turning off auto-updates and reverting to an older version of the app, which can allow successful setup of the vault.

In the meantime, users can access their Personal Vault via the OneDrive web interface or desktop app without issue. Let me know if that works or not by replying to this thread.

I have tried all of these work arounds and none of them work. When I uninstall the updates, that version of Onedrive does not have a Vault. I am trying this on 2 android devices; My Samsung S8+ Tablet and my S25 Ultra phone both of which are running the Android 15 OS, and on both I encounter the same problem. Why offer a product that doesn't work?

Hello. Have you tried logging in to your one drive using your mobile phone's browser? Then try to reactivate the Personal vault from there. After that, Sign in to Onedrive again. Tap on Personal vault, it will ask you to create a 6 digit security pin, now here is the trick. The new pin you create should match your phone's pin. There you go, all your vault files will reappear and be in sync.

I have exactly the same problem as Dan. One drive and access to my personal vault is OK on my old phone Samsung A33 5G but I cannot access my personal vault on my new phone Samsung A57 5G. When I tap on the personal vault to set it up it completes verification using Authenticator, accepts the 6 digit code (same as my login code) scans my driving licence and uploads it toa file I choose then loops back to the beginning sayin file not uploaded but it does upload as it is there in my folder. I know I can access my personal folder from my desktop but I do not normally carry that around with me! SOLVED

I went through set up once more but used a different 6 digit code to that for my phone and it worked first time without the need to upload a scan??? Is that 2FA?
