I can't add my physical address to the Address Book in my Microsoft Account

Hi anyone,

I try to ass my address for billing in the Address Book but keep getting an error message for 'Check you address. There appears to be an error in it.' under City*.

I tried to do the chat support and they kept sending me to sales chat... which I told him it's the profile. Please help, and thanks!

Turns out the problem for me was in the zip code and not the city, I was having the same issue with city, and I noticed zip code is also red but with no error code, I change the zip code to the extended ZIP Code (ZIP+4 Code, 9-digit ZIP Code) and it worked, I changed it from 12345 zip code to 12345-1234.

Microsoft's system may reject entries with special characters, excess spaces, or unusual city names that are not found in their validation’s database. Users have reached out about issues when entering a smaller town such as "McDonald" in Ohio.

    To resolve it, check your entry for the following:

    • Only use basic Latin characters (A-Z, a-z) and no accents, symbols, or punctuation.
    • Whether or not there are any extra spaces on the front and back of the city name.
    • Instead of the City you are trying to use consider using a larger city nearby just to move on from the validation.
    • If the error continues to restart the browser or try it on another device since a cache issue could be a cause of the glitch.
    • If all else fails, you can update your billing address through the Microsoft Account website on mobile or desktop.

    I am having the problem. I guess is it is related to the small cities' names, because my address usually is connected to other nearby city names, although I've tried different names and any of them worked.

    I also tried everything that was indicated but doesn't work as well. I am in California, zip code 94553
