I have a sticky note where I document items I need to discuss with my manager. I need to paste a screenshot in the sticky note but am unable to. Does anybody know a way to accomplish this task?

Hi Irvin, Sandra (Sandra Irvin),

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Community. We're happy to support you with your concern.

Based on your description, here're some suggestions you can try to fix your issue:

  1. Use Screen Clipping (Windows Shortcut):

This is the most reliable method across all OneNote versions:

  • Press Windows + Shift + S to activate the screen clipping tool.
  • Select the area of the screen you want to capture.
  • The image is copied to your clipboard.
  • Go to your Sticky Note and press Ctrl + V to paste the screenshot.

This method works even if direct image insertion is not supported in your Sticky Notes version.

  1. Using Sticky Notes Inside OneNote
  • Use a regular OneNote page to document your discussion items and insert screenshots:
    • Go to Insert > Pictures > This Device or Camera
    • Paste or drag your screenshot into the page.
  • Create a Sticky Note-style section in OneNote using tables and formatting, then add images freely.

Thank you again for your patience and for choosing Microsoft Q&A forum. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can assist you with. We're here to support you every step of the way.
