Hello,

I am a small business owner, with just an Microsoft 365 Business Basic licence.

I suddenly got an email, apparently from Microsoft that I dont understand at all

Its says:

You are receiving this email because your associated Microsoft Entra ID tenant (tenant ID XXX ) has been inactive for more than 200 days.
Required action: To continue using your tenant, make a purchase before May 11, 2025. If you don’t make a purchase before this date, your next purchase with Microsoft will require a new Microsoft Entra ID tenant to continue using Microsoft services.

I dont know what an Entra Tenant ID is? What purchase should I make?

My MS 365 licence ends only May 26 2025 and will be renewed of course.

Is that what this email is about?

Hope you can help

Hello Marc,

We checked our tenant-ID and it is different as well. I really appreciate that you took the time and wrote back!

Have a great day,

DGI

    Hello!

Thank you for clarifying that. That’s what I thought as I also used Azure.

My guess is Microsoft wanted to get people to purchase products, so they sent out misleading information, be it by accident or deliberately makes no difference. They should have clarified it online to appease all the people who received their email. I agree, people responsible should be fired!

Microsoft does not realise that they have no business without customers, so they’d better start acting in their best interest and stop agitating people.

This is extremely bad communication on the part of Microsoft and the marketing or sales bozos who put it together should be fired.

The email subject should have been: Important: Make a purchase to continue with your Azure/Entra trial account

The title of the text should have been: Your Azure/Entra trial account will be deleted by <> —make an Azure purchase to keep your billing account.

I had an Azure (Microsoft cloud service) account created for trial purposes a while ago, using the email in question. The Azure account is what will get deleted, not the actual email/Microsoft account for that email. It is part of an Azure cleanup exercise and they are within their rights to do it. They could so easy have been more specific and avoid this whole mess.
