The read-aloud voice used to be a very smooth speaking female voice and overnight it changed to a robotic voice. When I go into the settings it says I have to be signed in to change the voice. I am signed in. I tried signing out and resigning in deleting the app and reinstalling but it still says the same thing. I am using an Android with the mobile app. I was originally using just the word doc connected to my OneDrive I've even tried the Microsoft 365 app still same results. How do I get the old voice back?

I think it's time we realized that Microsoft has broken this, and that until someone at Microsoft decides to fix it, there is no cure. I've decided to stop wasting my time looking for answers.
Thank you for the work around with Microsoft Edge. Although it's not ideal for editing, at least the voices flow better. I'm using Michelle's voice.
I'm having the same problem. I was about to start proofreading a 94,000-word novel before submission, and the natural, female voice is gone. There's no way I'm listening to robot voices for 94,000 words. Please fix ASAP!
I hope this report, that it's a Microsoft server-side issue, is correct and that it will be fixed on Microsoft's side soon! I have visual issues and this feature is very important to me, and the lousy voice I'm now left with is not the functional equivalent for understandability and proofreading.

I click on my avatar but it doesn't give me the option anywhere to Send Feedback, and report a problem.
