we have fix to onedrive shortcut on file explorer

Just to add - on top of the dreaded URL shortcuts, this update broke some scripts I am using to deal with Live Photos that call OneDrive API. So, digging deeper, it seems that the root cause that no-one from Microsoft is willing to admit is that they're migrating users from the old OneDrive backend (API endpoint https://api.onedrive.com/v1.0/ ) to a new SharePoint backend (like OneDrive for Business is using, API https://my.microsoftpersonalcontent.com/_api/v2.1/ ). You can see these links i.e. in browser developer tab when using OneDrive, but for now it does seem to correlate to the missing/present "Search" in settings indeed.

I just wish they'd migrate whole family subscription at once, this is beyond user unfriendly.

Could you help explain this a bit more detail as i'm not so familiar: try opening the disk drive menu and proceed as a network drive

I did not select "Connect to Website that you can use.."

What I did was on WIndow Explorer, I right Click on My computer and choose Map network drive.

ANo correct and then try to seem the letter of the network drive that is free.

And in the share address put the network path see the link in Excel etc. the path must end / not point directly to a file e.g. xlsx

Yes, the path ends in /. Not in xlsx

I could not it on another PC but on one PC i could not do it. I cannot find the problem. I followed your advise to choose different letter but still the same

I had to go out on an errand this morning, so I've now come back to retry - I started the process again, using my OneDrive username and the App Password I generated earlier.

And now that I try again in exactly the same way I was doing before... I now get this error:

It would seem to me that this Windows 10 error message is likely equivalent to the slightly more user friendly Windows 11 you've shown there.

I've confirmed I am using the proper addess by reloading Excel and checking I can successfully open one of those recent files in that shared folder and that the shortcut URL hasn't changed - all fine, no change there.

I can only assume that Microsoft is changing things in the backend, as I can think of no other reason why trying to access it the same way and getting a different result!?

(Also, please MS, re this interface, when replying in-thread, why would you make it so that sometimes when hitting the up arrow, as you might reasonably do while editng text, you would send me to the top of the page - my scroll wheel is ageing fast! 😆)
