Excel crashes in Table Properties

I use PowerQuery quite a bit together with Excel (Microsoft 365).

Excel has started crashing whenever I access Table Design / Properties for a table created by PowerQuery.

This is the scenario:

    • Put cursor in the table
    • Click Table Design menu
    • click "Properties" (which is present in the "External Data Table" section of the ribbon). [Note: Properties will be greyed out for an ordinary table - AFAIK, it's only accessible for a Table created by PQ.]
    • make some change in the window that pops up

In all existing workbooks, and even a brand new one I create, following Step 3 (or sometimes Step 4) Excel crashes - and it usually restarts. So, the properties function under Table Design is inaccessible!

What could be causing this? How to fix it?

    Tristan - not sure what you are doing after "select 'Connections'.....? In my case, the side menu will list various Queries if I click "Queries", but if I click "Connections" (in the side panel), nothing shows (ie. 0 connections). And I'm unclear what you propose to "right click"? Nothing in my side-panel responds to a "right click".

    Rau - hope the image below makes more sense? I see that newer Power Queries are listed under 'Queries' but older Microsoft Queries are under 'Connections'.

    My similar image (Microsoft 365) looks pretty different! Clicking the Properties option (bottom of list) gets the Query properties, not the table properties.

    Julian, looking in Aps and Features, I have these:

    The vsn of the first is: 16.0.18324.20092, and of the second is: 18.2501.1031.0

    Which is the relevant item?

    Following an update, the vns are now: 16.0.18324.20168, and as above, respectively. Crash still occurs.
