Onedrive search function not working (online version)

Onedrive online App.

When opening my onedrive via webpage, the search function at the top is not working as before. Before I could start typing and the list of hits would diminish until I was left with whatever matched my search query.

There seems to be something wrong with my Onedrive folder, as the folder does not seem to be indexed any longer on the server side.

This also stops my Graph API searchfunction to work.

I can use: https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me/drive/root/children  to see the content of the onedrive.

But running : https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me/drive/root/search(q='.xlsx') returns nothing.

From what I have been able to dig up, this is due to onedrive not indexing any of the files serverside.

Is there any solution to this? Is there a hard reset to return my onedrive to it's default state? Or am I forced to find other solutions?

What I will explain to you is that the problem is not on your OneDrive folder, but on the OneDrive search service.

The problem you described that you can't search for the location of files in OneDrive (OneDrive search bar not working) is a hot issue that has recently emerged. We've received feedback from users around the world who have encountered this issue. This issue is still being investigated. It exists in OneDrive Web and OneDrive Mobile for certain users. The development team says that this is a temporary issue and will be resolved as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.

The Microsoft community is just a community for technical discussions, so we don't engage in development-related content, but I've found the last channel for users to submit reports and feedback on this issue that was opened by the OneDrive team.

    Have there been any updates on this topic?

    It's been quite a while since OneDrive search has been broken for me, on both the website and the Android app.

    I have over 1 TB of space used, with tons of photos, and files, both personal and from work projects. While I keep things mostly organized neatly in folders and whatnot, quite often I need to use the search function.

    Some transparency on the issue and its status would be nice, seeing how it's been going on for months now.

    Same for me. I just opened a ticked and it was closed immediately stating that this is a known issue and engineers are working on it. For months now with not the slightest results? What engineers do you employ, MSFT? This is so frustrating.

    Same issue for me. I am now also considering changing my cloud storage provider.

    Bit-by-bit the entire Microsoft ecosystem seems to be collapsing ... the 365 versions of the MS apps all seem to be retrograde steps, rather than advances in technology. Take outlook365 as an example .... you can no longer search for content within an open email!!

    The workaround suggested to me by Microsoft for the OneDrive search issue was quite frankly insulting. They told me ... "As a workaround, you can continue to access the files by navigating manually".

    I have however realised that there might be some sort of workaround..... I have several OneDrive folders shared with my wife. Her account is not impacted by this issue so I found that I was able to successfully search for files in my OneDrive folders from her account. You could therefore create a new "dummy" OneDrive account and share your entire OneDrive with it.

    Search is not working at all when using the online version of Onedrive. It finds nothing.

    This really needs to be addressed urgently. I always rely on the online version because it is faster. Sometimes, when File Explorer has indexing issues, the online version is our only tool for quickly finding what we need.
