Onedrive search function not working (online version)

Onedrive online App.

When opening my onedrive via webpage, the search function at the top is not working as before. Before I could start typing and the list of hits would diminish until I was left with whatever matched my search query.

There seems to be something wrong with my Onedrive folder, as the folder does not seem to be indexed any longer on the server side.

This also stops my Graph API searchfunction to work.

I can use: https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me/drive/root/children  to see the content of the onedrive.

But running : https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me/drive/root/search(q='.xlsx') returns nothing.

From what I have been able to dig up, this is due to onedrive not indexing any of the files serverside.

Is there any solution to this? Is there a hard reset to return my onedrive to it's default state? Or am I forced to find other solutions?

Hello ronron_525,

Welcome to the Microsoft community.

What I will explain to you is that the problem is not on your OneDrive folder, but on the OneDrive search service.

The problem you described that you can't search for the location of files in OneDrive (OneDrive search bar not working) is a hot issue that has recently emerged. We've received feedback from users around the world who have encountered this issue. This issue is still being investigated. It exists in OneDrive Web and OneDrive Mobile for certain users. The development team says that this is a temporary issue and will be resolved as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.

The Microsoft community is just a community for technical discussions, so we don't engage in development-related content, but I've found the last channel for users to submit reports and feedback on this issue that was opened by the OneDrive team.

You can take a screenshot of the issue you're encountering and provide feedback about the issue using the OneDrive link (live.com))

Image

So that they can fully understand the full picture of the problem and summarize the various symptoms of the problem they encounter to provide a more comprehensive solution.

▲ We will continue to monitor the issue in this reply thread and share the latest progress of the issue as soon as possible.

Best regards

Ian - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist

This issue is NOT closed. This was FEBRUARY. It’s JUNE now, for those of us keeping score (and watching our small businesses collapse as we cannot find our consumer files). Ian— I am certain it was not your choice for Microsoft to dump tons and tons of resources into this new Copilot thing… which, I don’t know about anyone else, but for me is not useful as it is market redundant. Please pull people off of your attempt to upend ChatGPT and provide us with the service we are paying YOU to provide.

no, dont close my case. you have notprovided me with a resolution. I am a paid subscriber.

I understand that you have SLA on open cases. But, simply closing the case without an appropriate resolution is like sweeping your problems under the carpet. Next this goes on twitter and I tag your senior management sitting in Redmond.

Three months have not been enough to fix this issue—something is clearly wrong. I'm considering giving up on OneDrive and switching to Google Drive!

This has been going on for over six months with multiple support tickets. No follow-ups, no progress, and it is having a devastating impact on my ability to work and volunteer. We need a workaround or an account-specific fix. I feel completely abandoned by Microsoft with nothing but static. Every ticket gets closed with no follow-up. I have files that I need but cannot find. Searching does not work locally on any device or the web.
