OneDrive shared folders showing up as URL links and not actual folders

Hi,

When will this problem be fixed? It has been unresolved for nearly two months now.

Issue

Some OneDrive shared folders shortcuts located in your My Files folder may show up as .url internet shortcuts instead of actual folders.

If I try to open the folder shortcut, it opens as a webpage instead of a folder.

Best Regards ,

Blanchi Dabre

There is another forum thread created on June 7, 2024 with close to 3000 entries regarding the same problem. It appears to have been answered by someone named Hans Brender on March 13 2025. He says Microsoft OneDrive Group states it as being fixed, but that we need to wait.

Amazingly, I can report, that my issue resolved itself without any further action from my side. Whether this was helped by an e-mail I sent to Microsoft support a few days ago, I don't know, but most of my OneDrive is back to normal, just 45 days after Microsoft screwed it up. Solely my secondary computer, which holds a few files and directories as local copies too, replicated these to the cloud during the issue period and now failed to remove them completely. I was left with a mirrored directory structure containing no files. Deleting those empty directories manually seems to have resolved the issue though.

I wish you all the same luck with your OneDrives in the very near future!

My issue is resolved as well. Not sure how, but the shared link in my local one drive folder turned back into a working directory structure and the files are syncing between users.

    I am currently running

    MacBook Air 15 inch M2 2023

    MacvOS 14.5.1

    Onedrive 25.065.0406

I hope everyone experiences this fix soon if not already working

I find Microsoft's response to this and lack of correction absurd. You rope us into paying for cloud services will bells and whistles and advertise significant efficiencies in using your tools, then you take months to address an issue, suggesting a clunky inefficient work-around.

My company is spending 10X+ longer using OneDrive because of this.

Issue occurred here at Harco Developments on 2/19/2025 and has yet to be corrected.
