OneDrive shared folders showing up as URL links and not actual folders

Hi,

When will this problem be fixed? It has been unresolved for nearly two months now.

Issue

Some OneDrive shared folders shortcuts located in your My Files folder may show up as .url internet shortcuts instead of actual folders.

If I try to open the folder shortcut, it opens as a webpage instead of a folder.

Best Regards ,

Blanchi Dabre

    i used this a temp workaround, https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/onedrive-folders-shared-with-me-for-years-are-now/941db6bf-96fa-4821-bc71-f4c0ab7a2b63

but note i had to reboot my pc before creating another network folder, but once i had added about 4 shared folders it a decent workaround until microsoft fix it

    I have the same problem.

I would suggest contacting Microsoft support through OneDrive (I did it through the online OneDrive website) and opening a support case. The more complaints they receive, the more likely the problem will get resolved.

For what it's worth, I got the following response, which is not really encouraging given how long this has been a known issue:

    ======

I apologize for the inconvenience this experience has caused and we appreciate you for reporting the issue with the OneDrive Shared folder redirecting to the web.

Please be assured that our Engineering team is aware of this problem, as it has been reported by other users, and they're actively working on a resolution for everyone.

While no action is required on your part, we may proceed to archive this case, as the fix when available, will be implemented through an update to your device.

In the meantime, we recommend using OneDrive on the web as a workaround for accessing your shared folder files. You can access your files under the shared section through:

    1. Visit www.onedrive.com via a browser.
    2. Click the shared section
    3. Click shared with me

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience while we address the issue.

    Hello, Blanchi

Thank you for raising your concerns in the Microsoft Community.

We are aware of the problem and are working to solve it. The URL files will automatically be converted back to folders when the issue is resolved. For now, we recommend accessing shared folders that are in this state in OneDrive.com.

    Please see this information here:

Add and sync shared folders to OneDrive for home - Microsoft Support

    Best regards,
