Excessive price increase

This email came from you today....."Starting on 14/05/2025, the price for your Microsoft 365 Family subscription will change from AUD 139.00/year to AUD 179.00/year. "
This is totally excessive and wholly unjustified. I am completely uninterested in using your copilot system. All I want is the Word Excel and PowerPoint on my Mac.

I've seen some responses that suggest I can cancel and subscribe to MS 365 classic for cheaper.. But this not available in Australia. Are we Guinea pigs here to see how much you can gouge out of ordinary people. Shame on you and your ethics.

I think this move by you signals my final association with Microsoft and its products after nearly 40 years.

    This is what I have just done also, thanks for those posting here to help myself and others figure it out.

    Absolutely unimpressed by the business process to automatically upgrade peoples’ subscription rather than make it opt in.

    I’m concerned that the Classic option will only be around for a little while then it will disappear, forcing everyone to upgrade or leave. If Classic disappears I’ll be changing software in principle no matter the personal inconvenience.

    It is possible to downgrade: It is just very cunningly hidden, in hopes most people won't bother and just absorb the new price... but if you click on "cancel" and scroll down, you will find an option to change subscription plans to Microsoft 365 Classic without AI and for a cheaper price.

    I was in the same boat, i dont want or need any AI bloat in my Office Subscription.

    I went into my MS Account Subscription for Office, hit Cancel Subscription, and well blow me down, there is the option to remain on the $109 a year plan with it called Microsoft365 Personal Classic or something like that, with no AI BS.

    Me too. All I want is Word, Excel & Powerpoint. Dont use the cloud. Dont want AI or Copilot. Cant see any option in Australia to downgrade to classic, basic or anything cheaper. Understand the costs of developing these advanced features, but why do I have to pay such an unacceptable increase if I dont want or use these features?

    I has saved me money. It game me the kick I needed to cancel 365. Now I feel liberated. There are really good alternatives out there. Libre office if pretty good these days. You could use a separate cloud storage if you need it, or look into Google one, it's cheaper. My only problem with Google is they make it very difficult to migrate your data onto personal storage which could be a problem if you change your mind in the future.
