Today, I turned on Onenote, and it notified me that it had Copilot update.

Now, every time I click in Onenote, it shows this annoying Copilot icon next to cursor:

How do I remove it?

Thank you.

It is becoming clear that Microsoft's future business model is coercion. Microsoft will have its Big Brother, uh excuse me Copilot, sitting over your shoulder no matter what you do. You WILL save documents to OneDrive whether you like it or not, and MS WILL back up your entire file system to OneDrive and charge you for that service (now or eventually). No matter what options you select, you WILL see Microsoft's "News" in Edge and on Bing. There are no options for any of this. MS is not enticing you by offering features you might want; no, MS is building this stuff in to the tools you already use, and you had better like it.

After decades of being on Microsoft's platforms due to the nature of my career, I am seriously looking for alternatives for my next machine's OS. And no, don't look to Apple; I hear Apple is worse, and MS is just copying Apple, as usual.

After uninstalling Copilot as an app days ago, and it finally stopped reinstalling itself (even after a number of reboots), I still can't get the extremely unusual and annoying icon to stop appearing in OneNote. I have Windows 11 Home (Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0) with Microsoft 365 Personal. Please help with other options. I do NOT want ANY aspect of Copilot on my laptop, in any app... I never want to see Copilot again. Thank you.

Wouldn't you think this would solve the problem. This does NOT solve the problem with the copilot icon appearing in OneNote.

I agree, this is the most unnecessary and annoying thing they could have done. Also the copilot that comes with the personal 365 is useless. Can't properly summarize notes, can't make overview guides, can't make diagrams. Like if it could just make a flowchart i'd keep it but its not a useful in app ai.

    Dear Microsoft Team,

One of the simplest yet most helpful features OneNote had was the ability to easily move sentences/bullets (drag and drop). This allowed users to quickly type two or more sentences and then manually sort them. This basic functionality was incredibly helpful for brainstorming, creating quick to-do lists, and other similar tasks.

Now, with Copilot being so intrusive and altering the cursor, that simple and helpful capability is gone. The current workaround requires selecting one word in a sentence and then using the Copilot cursor/icon to move the sentence (drag and drop). This significantly reduces the ease and simplicity of manually sorting sentences/bullets. This makes the process unproductive, especially when Copilot isn't needed.

The solution seems straightforward: provide an option to disable the Copilot cursor, allowing users to decide whether to enable it.

    Thank you in advance!

    Patricio
