How to disable Copilot for all applications - Mac

I don't want to use the copilot features that have automatically been added to my Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.) - and I feel that this should be something that we are able to do, without having to purchase a subscription to copilot and then disable it.

How can I disable these features, to stop the shadow offer to use copilot on every new line I start on a word document and remove the icon from the tool bar?

This should be something that is an optional add on, rather than a mandated installation.

After spending an hour messing around with this I finally found how to turn the annoying thing off. The icon showed up in the Authoring and Proofing tools. I clicked on it and the Disable button was there. Turned that sucker off! It's now grayed out on my computer. (It better not come back!)

I tried to attach screenshots but they fail to upload.

This seems to work for some users but not for others. Even if it works it disables a host of other features which amounts to throwing out the baby with the bath water. See this article for details: Connected experiences in Office

I will take your admonishment to heart, although entirely misrepresentative of my comments.

I have neither the time, use nor inclination for your sophomoric lecture.

    Best of luck.
