How to disable or remove Copilot in Office 365 Personal

Since the latest Office 365 Personal update Version 2410 (Build 18129.20116) Copilot Draft has been enabled in Word, which I don't want.

I have not checked in other Office 365 programs to see if Copilot is enabled.

How do I disable or better, remove Copilot for Office 365 Personal?

Noting that Office 365 Personal does not have access to the Microsoft Edge admin centre from a personal email address.

Why doesn't Microsoft allow the User to decide whether to opt in to enable Copilot, then automatically enabling Copilot, and making it difficult for the User to disable or remove it!

A short update to include the following from a chat session (after moving through 3 operators) which is interesting to say the least. My question was asking which of the email (with the $159 renewal figure) and the details in my account (with the $109 renewal figure) was correct.

once your subscription is due, you will be charged $159 for the updated subscription with many new features. However, we understand you prefer the classic version, and that is possible. I have spoken to many customers with the same concern. You can contact us before your subscription is due, and we will process the renewal for the classic version at $109. The email you received is correct; it serves as a notification for Microsoft 365 subscribers, but you can remain on the classic version.

    Ian,

    This solution of yours means that I am stuck with Copilot until my current subscription expires, which is in March 2025. I wish to remove or at the very least have the option to disable Copilot in Word with immediate effect.

    I ask that you please provide a solution that has immediate effect rather than one that will literally take 5 months.

    I also ask that before making wholesale and unilateral changes to products, you engage in consultation with your subscribers and provide an option to disable new and unwanted features.

    This Copilot feature in Word marks a significant departure from the product that I bought - absent the option to remove the updates, this in my view constitutes a breach of contract. I would not have subscribed for this suite of products had they included Copilot at the time of purchase.

    How do you remove this piece of **** software that was never requested to be added to outlook? How can you be so incompetent to add software that does not come with a simple on/off switch? I've been developing and delivering enterprise software for over 30 years and would have lost my job if I had released such a piece of ****.

    There is no option for me to switch to a better plan that suits me - can either cancel or continue subscribing with the 30% cost increase from December. Copilot is something I do NOT want nor will ever use.

    Hello Ian

    I too am not having any luck following your steps.

    There is no Select “Unsubscribe”, only "Cancel subscription".I too am from Australia.

    When i click to contact support, I am greeted with "There is an issue with connecting. Try again later" for the chat widget. I am fed up with Microsoft not being contactable while raising the cost.

    This is in response to an email i received stating the increase from 11/month to 16/month. I do not want or need co-pilot and dont want to pay for it.

    How can i convert my account to Microsoft 365 Personal Classic
