Run the OneDrive troubleshooter

The file is in the same location. i have several subfolders and inside them only the file saved after Feb 2024 can be opened. i have tried to restore and resync one drive but nothing has changed

Hi, I can't open any file (pdf, excel, word etc) that were saved before February 2024

it is not signing in or connecting to one drive on my desktop pc

If you have a Windows Live account, you should be able to access your old OneDrive... that is if it is not attached to an expired Microsoft Office 365 account versus your Windows 11 Pro installation.

To access OneDrive using a Windows Live account, you can:

1. Open any web browser and go to onedrive.live.com. Sign in with your Microsoft account credentials
2. Go to onedrive.com, enter your Microsoft account credentials, and select Sign In
3. On your computer, search for "OneDrive" and sign in with your account email and password

If your old laptop is holding an old Microsoft Office 365 or Windows 11 Pro installation, then it also is storing information for that login in its credentials:
