Teams Chat - copy/paste

When in Chats in Teams we used to copy conversations and paste them into other docs. This brought across name/date and chat text.

Now when we do this it only brings across the text; name/date are missing. This causes issues for us as we cannot keep accurate records.

Has this facility been changed/withdrawn in an update? Is there a workaround?

    Teams chat has largely superseded Outlook as the primary communication platform for most large companies. Most people in corporate settings must capture metadata for those conversations, showing who participated in the discussion and the specific date and time. It is unbelievable that MS would now prevent customers from capturing the metadata from a Teams Chat. Now I had to start going back to Outlook due to effectively capturing long communications is impossible in Teams. Microsoft, please bring this functionality back!

    MS this is absolutely ludicrous - throwing my vote in here too

    "Noise" you say, the precise reason for wanting to copy chats out is to get the Name/date time stamp

    the workaround doesn't even work any more.. good on you MS, once again coming up with a solution for something that was never an issue in the first place.

    am late to the game and the answer may be in here already..

    I am able to replicate what used to work by SELECTING the entire message text then doing a FORWARD from the MORE OPTIONS ellipsis..

    A box appears that shows the message with teh metadata inside it.. You can then SELECT all that to COPY and PASTE.

    I tried the work-around with an added step.

    selecting the message with Time Stamp and name of the person you want, and while still holding the mouse button down, press CTRL + C and CTRL + V

    THEN

    use your mouse to click the part of document you want to copy the selection to and lastly press CTRL+V.

    This will add 3 lines before each section of text.

    1. <first part of text>...by <name>
    2. <name>

    3.<time>

    Yes, you are absolutely right. Currently, even if you highlight everything before copying and pasting, including the name and date, it will only paste the message into other apps. However, as a work around I sincerely suggest hold mouse for selecting the message with Time Stamp and name of the person you want then use CTRL+C for copy while you are still holding mouse and use CTRL+V for paste into another app.

    I have been testing your query from my side and based on my test result the above workaround allows me to copy the message with sender name and the timestamp. you can refer to the screenshot below:

    Result: pated into word.
