In Excel, how do I remove the Quick Access pane in the File Save interface?

The quick access pane is providing links that I do not have write access to and never save to, and I need the 'Browse' folder option at the bottom, which I now have to use the scroll bar in order to select. This is adding extra steps and reducing efficiency, so I would like to remove the Quick Access pane.

    Arrived here looking for a solution to a garbage 'feature' like so many others.

    Registry mods are out of the question for my corp computers.

    Saving is a simple workaround with the QAT.
    Opening needs an extra touch.

    This is the bit I've been missing and it makes a huge difference:
    "then check the "Don't show the Backstage when opening or saving files with keyboard shortcuts" option via File> Options> Save"

    Totally agree... we should be able to select our favorite/most used places and have THEM in a list!

    me too it is silly I would far rather be able to set the files into which I normally save things

    You can try creating a custom ribbon that includes a 'save as' button. This will just open the save as dialogue box without the extra click and scroll.

    Yay! This was such an easy fix. I added a Save, and a Save As buttons. You know, like when it just worked in the past. Also, I deleted some other groups that I never use and just cluttered up the ribbon. Thanks!

    Looks like this started when some kind of connection was added to MS Teams... The same quick access locations will be in the "onedrive" menu in MS teams. BUT I found a work around....

    If you use the "save as" icon in the quick access toolbar or use the F12 key, they both bypasses the "Quick Access Locations" in the save menu.
