In Excel, how do I remove the Quick Access pane in the File Save interface?

The quick access pane is providing links that I do not have write access to and never save to, and I need the 'Browse' folder option at the bottom, which I now have to use the scroll bar in order to select. This is adding extra steps and reducing efficiency, so I would like to remove the Quick Access pane.

    Please God (and Microsoft),

Take this "Feature" away. Do you have any idea in a large business how many One Note files I've touched? Now to save stuff in places I save stuff to multiple times daily, I have a scroll through a list of every one note document I've touched in the last 2 years. It's infuriating.

Hoping to come back to this thread just to see if MS had replied yet with a response...now I'm just posting HOPING that MS notices takes this kind of thing seriously. For home use, I can muscle through it, not a big deal, but it's not only tiresome in a work environment, it's hurting our efficiency.

I always think I have accidently clicked on something that causes these unwanted changes to occur - glad to know it wasn't me! Agree with the other posters on this being very annoying with no way to turn off.

Erin Hawley1's workaround is the best so far.
