Why is there a price increase in Office 365 annual subscription? Am I getting some new stuff? I'm in Malaysia.

I have realized that you are upset because the price of Microsoft 365 has gone up. I understand your feelings.

 I just went to the official website as well to confirm that the current price is RM409 for the home version and RM309 for the personal version.

How much was your previous price exactly? Since pricing is officially assigned. The official price of the product will be adjusted according to the per capita purchasing power of different regions and the exchange rate of currencies.

This is not humanly controllable.Usually a rise in price indicates that the currency of the current region has depreciated or the GDP of the region has risen.

You need to observe the local development situation.

Since the Microsoft community can only troubleshoot the product's features, it cannot intervene in the product's release or pricing.

So for more information, I suggest you contact support to confirm!.

1. Visit this website: Contact - Microsoft Support
2. Type in your problems in the search box there. For instance, subscription/Tax invoices/refund, etc.
3. Now click Get help, and Select Contact Support below.
4. Go to the Products and services tab, and choose either Microsoft 365 and Office category or Other Products
5. On the Category tab, choose Manage My Subscription or other alternatives.
6. Go to Confirm.
7. You can now choose the option of Chat with a support agent on your web browser.

Please Note: The Chat support team only works at certain times, so if the last window says you are not available, try to open it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can call you and help you.

Microsoft 365 Family went from RM 359 to RM 540

while the Microsoft 365 personal went from RM 269 to RM440.

Those numbers are exactly above 50% increased in price.

MYR currency did not devalue that much, nor did the purchasing power changed by 50%.

So the obvious question is, what justifies the 50% increment in price?

Prices have gone up here in Australia as well from AU$109 per year to AU$159 per year for Personal as well as a similar rise for the Family version.

All I can see that is different is the mention of Co-Pilot and supposed 'AI', plus it looks like Publisher has been dropped in favour of Designer. So effectively they've taken away something to give us something else but this doesn't justify a price increase of around 30%.

Why remove Publisher? Granted I don't use it but I know a lot of people who love it and will have no use for the new Designer. If you're going to jack up your prices this significantly you could at least increase what people get.

The arrogance of Microsoft is astounding.

Clearly they are losing so much money with their investment in openAI that they are punishing every single one of their users. I just got a notification that my price will increase by around 30% with less than 3 weeks notice - I cannot simply adjust my entire family account in that time.

Rest assured, this is a nail in Microsoft's coffin - this kind of gouging to cover their investment in products their customers don't want is borderline criminal - all while offering some of the worst UX available to man.

Shape up Microsoft.

Agree absolutely. I only just noticed the price increase by chance – there has been no notification from Microsoft whatsoever, and of course there is no way to contact anyone. We're on a family subscription on the Australian price rise is to $179 from $139, so not as steep as your personal plan, but way more than inflation.

I have no interest in Microsoft's crappy AI and don't use Publisher so won't use Designer either. I just want the basic apps (essentially just Word and Excel – don't even use Outlook).

Surely they could offer a basic or classic version without these bells and whistles and keep the price down.
