Why is there a price increase in Office 365 annual subscription? Am I getting some new stuff? I'm in Malaysia.

That is not a price increase .... it's downright thievery. A 28% increase ,,,, I wish MY income was increased by that! I guess it's time to ditch Micro$oft and look open source or basically ANYONE else for a better deal.. Yeah, like MS need more money from subscriptions. It's bad enough they changed to an annual subscription, so you don't even own the software. Just a mechanism to keep charging you and increasing the price year after year until you can no longer afford it!

Don't try and hide this behind currency fluctuations, it is insulting.

My subscription increase is 28% in Singapore and no currency changes amount to that. As other posters have noted it is Microsoft penalising customers for their AI investments rather than take a marginal (minuscule in fact ) hit on their gouged profits.

A better option would be to allow a basic subscription version using the key products that I suspect the majority of users use, Word, Excel, OneDrive storage.

Remember the good old days when you actually just purchased the product and had it for life, now the yearly subscription is the same, if not more, that the one off cost used to be. No wonder Microsoft profits have soared, nothing to do with improvements in tech, just raping customers for profit.

Hi, you can contact Microsoft Support to remain on your "Classic" version if you wish. The advantage I see with the new subscription is that it includes CoPilot, Microsoft Teams (allowing group calls for up to 30 hours with up to 300 people), and more. I’ve decided to give it a try for a year and switch back to the "Classic" version at my next renewal if the additional features are not that useful.

If you prefer to use Microsoft 365 apps without Copilot at all. Please refer to the following to try to switch back to your old subscription.

• Visitaccount.microsoft.com/services.
• Select the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription you have and select “Manage”.
• Select “Unsubscribe”.
• View “Switch to a subscription that suits you better*” and select “Microsoft 365 Personal Classic”.*
• After following the instructions to complete your subscription. Your subscription will automatically renew to Classic when its existing subscription expires.

It's so skeevy that microsoft changed our subscriptions to be automatically "upgraded" to include ai, when most of us don't want the ai, we just want what we originally signed up for.

This should've been an email notification to say they now offer our current sub with ai that we can choose to upgrade to, instead of an email notification to say our subscription has changed & will cost more without our approval..

This should be illegal, I hope there's legal ramifications for MS doing this.

I legit just want the cloud storage to backup my computer, its the only reason I pay. If they do this again I'll be finding another provider.

I find the increase to be unfair. I like using Microsoft Office due to the seamless integration between all my devices. And I do like the 1 TB Cloud Storage option. But I do not like the new price increase. It is not justifiable. I also had a really bad experience with their support people regarding this matter. I guess my only option is not to renew the subscription. I was on a monthly plan of RM 21.90 under Google Play Store with the first month free. Now the best price seems to be at RM 27 / month. I feel that they have pulled the rug under my feet just as I was getting comfortable using it, being from a Mac background. Well, the ball is in their court now. They can say goodbye to my subscription unless they roll it back to the old pricing.

And someone at Microsoft should really look into their support people and how these support people respond to their clients. It's bad to drive business away. Microsoft even committed to investing lots of money in Malaysia for AI, and this price increase might be to justify their investment. Well, I'm not buying it.

Hope someone at Microsoft understands our predicament and takes meaningful action to reverse this.
