OneDrive Personal Vault cannot unlock, error code 0x8004db90

I haven't been able to access my OneDrive Personal Vault in the past few days. I've tried multiple ways (PC, iOS app, webpage) but none works -

  • on the iOS app, it prompted me to setup personal vault even though I've done the setup a long time ago. After completing authentication, the app popped up with "Unable to complete Personal Vault setup, please try again in a few minutes". I tried removing the app and started fresh and that didn't help.
  • on webpage, after authentication, it popped up saying "There was a problem unlocking your Personal Vault". I tried both Edge and Chrome and got the same results.
  • on PC, onedrive can't unlock my personal vault, and popped up with error code 0x8004db90. I tried unlinking onedrive and relinking it and that didn't help.

Overall this feels like an authentication issue but somehow only affects personal vault access.. If anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it!

    I wish the PIN would work for me - but it still does not - I still cannot access my personal vault.

    I have the same issue for 20 days : unable to access important files in my personal vault. And paying for this service ! I opened a ticket with Ms support : they requested to do several things that did not work : dissociated account, /reset.... I did it, gathered the error message in a pdf file, said it was not working. So they just closed my ticket !

    I have the same issue on a very new pc configured wth my account and as well on my android phone, so issue is no linked to my devices. I see more and more users with the same issue. Linked to Crowdstrike issue ???

    Opowiem Wam sytuacje. Jestem pilotem. Jak zwykle zapomniałem fizycznej licencjii ale od lat miałem ją w tym czymś. Nie udałosię odlecieć bo MS coś spierdolił i każe mi pisać maile. Latam G500.

    Odszkodowanie będzie grube…

    Panowie. Z nami nikt nie rozmawia to je st pierdolony automat…

    Tam są sami debile, którzy nie wiedzą co się dzieje z ich kodem. Zajeli się AI a nie potrafią napisać linijki kodu. Tumany.
