Remove Copilot from Word

The latest Microsoft 365 Update has added a Copilot function to Word. Now every time I create a new paragraph, a little copilot symbol appears in the left-hand margin prompting me to use copilot. It is extremely annoying and distracting. How do I stop this symbol appearing, or better, remove copilot from Word?

What will happen when the next update is automatically downloaded? Is there a timeframe for the next update and how do I protect my documents?

I am so irritated by this. Microsoft provide all these instructions that I have to follow to undo their "system improvements" that I didn't ask for. I don't have time for this ****. Remove Co-pilot from my version of Office please! I don't want it. I didn't ask for it and I don't have time to follow your patchy instructions to fix it. Why is this my responsibility? I never wanted it in the first place. Create a Disable button. Create a Uninstall button. You don't seem to have problems creating buttons that enable your unwanted collection of my data.

There should be an easy option to turn off Copilot, not a convoluted return to a previous version, probably each time Word is updated by Microsoft. Not everyone wants to use this feature - why is it being forced on everyone and placed front and centre in every user's face?

I'm really confused by this. I followed the instructions and it's telling me that I'm running 17531.20120. But the copilot symbol is still appearing on my page. Am I missing something?

I can deal with it in the ribbon, but I can't cope with it being on the actual page, popping in and out and generally being intrusive.

I don't think I can downgrade my subscription to something without copilot as I need the onedrive storage.

Due to this unwanted foisting of AI upon me I will be ending my microsoft 365 subscription i have had for 10+ years and will instead begin using google docs. At least I'm won't be paying 16 bucks a month to train their entirely useless llm. I just want to type up my own words. I do not want this, did not ask for this and will no longer pay for this service
