Remove Copilot from Word

The latest Microsoft 365 Update has added a Copilot function to Word. Now every time I create a new paragraph, a little copilot symbol appears in the left-hand margin prompting me to use copilot. It is extremely annoying and distracting. How do I stop this symbol appearing, or better, remove copilot from Word?

Which version of Word do you have? I can't find what you're talking about (I'm on a Mac running Word v. 16.93. My license is a Microsoft 365 subscription.

Wow - they listened! Well done everyone!

Not quite the same on my Mac, but there is now an option under the menu Word > Preferences > Copilot > Enable / Disable Copilot!!

AND FOR PC!!! I just checked...

Opened a new document and went File > Options > Copilot (left hand panel) > Enable / Disable Copilot!!

Maybe the lesson will be learned by the Microsoft devs to allow their users the option of enabling / disabling new 'features' for the future... but not likely.

We are still paying the increased subscription cost that includes unwanted features.

Unfortunately you don’t get that option if you are in Australia. The only option you get is to go to monthly billing.

According to the person I spoke to online at Microsoft, I have to ring up Microsoft in Australia and beg for the Classic option.

Microsoft will lose my subscription as I won’t support grubby tactics like this.

Does this work with business accounts or only personal accounts? I have a business account as a self-employed person and I'm tired of seeing this "Co-Pilot" plagerism machine garbage as well.
