Karl, Thanks for the info. The work-around that I found was easier to implement than rolling back the entire office suite to get a more stable version of Access. The affected PC was not running mission-critical apps, just IT tools. Also, with the replaced DLL, it is easier for me to switch back-and-forth to test the latest Access version on others' databases or PC-specific configurations to help track down the issues. Reiff

A reply to the documenting article on AFo has suggested that you could try adding the final optional, Compare, argument to Instr(). https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/instr-function-85d3392c-3b1c-4232-bb18-77cd0cb8a55b I can't see any difference, but then the only crash I instigated was the very first time I ran the demo query under MS Access 64 bit.

This crashes MS Access before returning any results:

Hi,

I installed the new version 2404 which was published on May 1. In my tests the bug has been fixed.

Therefore, I've updated our documenting article on AFo with the fix information.
