Occasionally, when trying to open a file or document library in one of our SharePoint sites, instead of opening the file/folder, SharePoint prompts the user to download a file named "preload" (Speicific message - "Do you want to download "preload"?"). If the file is downloaded, then the downloaded file is empty; it has no file extension, is 0 KB large, and opening it in NotePad opens a blank window. This issue does not lock users out of files or folders - when attempting to open the file or folder again, then the user is able to open the file/folder without issue.Currently this issue has only been observed on Apple devices and only while using Safari. Efforts to recreate problem on Windows/Firefox and iOS/Safari/Different SP site have been fruitless.Could this be an issue with the specific SharePoint site or a general Apple-wide problem with SharePoint Online?

Disable the "Enable Content Blockers" on the URL did the trick for me. You might also need to disable this for other domains used like office.com

I visited sharepoint and it downloaded preload.
I disabled that content blocker in the settings from that window.
Then I closed and reloaded the same sharepoint url.
It did not download preload.
Then I made a private browser window and opened the sharepoint url.
I had to log in again.
Then it downloaded preload.
So I looked at the setting in the private browser and content blocker was already unchecked in the private window.
I think it may not be the long term solution.
When you disable content blockers for a specific URL in a standard window, that setting does not carry over to private browsing sessions even though the checkmark is unchecked.
So in a private session it would require you to go to SharePoint, check the checkbox (which reloads the page) and then uncheck the checkbox again. only then the setting is applied, and only for that specific session.
