OneDrive: Shared folders are only available via internet shortcut

I am having problems with shared folders in OneDrive. They are showing up as internet shortcuts only, I used to have them in File Explorer as a folder that I would click on to access content of that shared folder. My IT person found a website stating that Microsoft is aware of this issue. When will this be fixed?

Your answer is off topic and doesnt relate to my comment. This thread is about the cirtical problem, that you cant access a shared OneDrive Folder from your file explorer anymore. This behavior breaks several workflows. We switched to Google Drive, which integrates perfectly with the windows file explorer.

Unfortunately, accessing Excel Macro Spreadsheets from shared OneDrive.com folders does not work. Macros are not support on OneDrive.com. These spreadsheets need to be run locally which is not currently possible with a local shortcut.

    Hello, Reception Skyway Park

Thanks for raising your concerns in Microsoft Community.

We are aware of the issue and are working on resolving it. The url files will automatically convert back to folders when the issue is resolved. For now, we recommend accessing shared folders that are in this state on OneDrive.com.

Please refer to this information here:

Add and sync shared folders to OneDrive for home - Microsoft Support

    Warm Regards,

This is a straight up lie! Nothing has been fixed yet and we also didn't get any other information if this is intended behavior.

For any student or "non big business" user i recommend Google Drive or Dropbox, they both work well across all systems.

Well this happened to my wife (who shares my shared folder). This started about 2 months ago. We had not changed any settings. I've spent hours and days trying to work out what's happened until I read this forum. It's not a fix to have to go to the web browser version via a shortcut to work on documents we share regularly. Is this still an issue. 6 months to fix something at Microsoft? Will it be fixed?
