OneDrive: In windows 11, file explorer no longer allows you access to shared folders within "my files" or QuickAccess except as a link to the online version of the folder

These issues are specifically for accessing files/folders within File Explorer.

Noted today that for shared folders that were previously added (and readded today) to My Files do not allow access to the contents of the folder but instead they appear as a link to the webpage portal for access to the folder.

Initial access to the web portal version did not seem to work until after logging out and back in again (I think this is referenced in a published workaround).

Further, the same shared folder cannot be accessed via the link in Quick Access. It provides a "location is not found" error instead.

Not sure if there's a fix to this pending?

If you don't get it by now, Microsoft could care less that you are not getting a service that you pay for.

I just lost my access to a shared OneDrive folder two days ago. FWIW, ChatGPT tells me that this is a new Microsoft policy that's been in place since 2023, but it's just now getting around to me. My wife still sees the folder in Explorer, but the folder name changed. I suspect she'll get whacked soon.

Just got off the phone with Microsoft.

They have discontinued the ability to do file sharing through file explorer.

Okay that is interesting. I just finished a live chat with a Microsoft agent and he told me the engineering team is working to resolve the issue. Hopefully they get things figured out!
