OneDrive: In windows 11, file explorer no longer allows you access to shared folders within "my files" or QuickAccess except as a link to the online version of the folder

These issues are specifically for accessing files/folders within File Explorer.

Noted today that for shared folders that were previously added (and readded today) to My Files do not allow access to the contents of the folder but instead they appear as a link to the webpage portal for access to the folder.

Initial access to the web portal version did not seem to work until after logging out and back in again (I think this is referenced in a published workaround).

Further, the same shared folder cannot be accessed via the link in Quick Access. It provides a "location is not found" error instead.

Not sure if there's a fix to this pending?

I just started to have this issue! What is the fix or workaround?

Create a new microsoft account or wait (an unknown time) for Microsoft to migrate your current account to new server.

There is this story of ongoing account migrations floating around as the reason behind the shared-folder bug. As some forums have already pointed out, this platform-migration is not the only issue behind the bug. The new platform has some bugs and it is partly incompatible with the old one. Those bugs have not been discovered by the OneDrive team's integration tests, but by the author of an independent Linux OneDrive client. Have a look at the ongoing development and discussion:

    https://github.com/OneDrive/onedrive-api-docs/issues/1890

    TL;DR

The OneDrive team does not even seem to be aware of the issues. Everyone should be prepared for a long wait!

So what is the fix or conclusion here, I still don't understand. Do we have to unintlstall and reinstall onedrive or update somehow. Does it automatically update?? Our shared folders within file Explorer are still just linking to the browser.

Will the shared folder issues within the OneDrive mobile app be resolved as part of this? We have also lost ability to move, copy and scan files withing a shared folder in the mobile app.

    Thanks.

This is the fundamental problem - there is NOTHING we can do. It's just waiting for Microsoft to transition all accounts over to the new system and then it will start working again. The problem is Microsoft have not shared any timescales of how long and when this will happen.
