OneDrive: In windows 11, file explorer no longer allows you access to shared folders within "my files" or QuickAccess except as a link to the online version of the folder

These issues are specifically for accessing files/folders within File Explorer.

Noted today that for shared folders that were previously added (and readded today) to My Files do not allow access to the contents of the folder but instead they appear as a link to the webpage portal for access to the folder.

Initial access to the web portal version did not seem to work until after logging out and back in again (I think this is referenced in a published workaround).

Further, the same shared folder cannot be accessed via the link in Quick Access. It provides a "location is not found" error instead.

Not sure if there's a fix to this pending?

I did an inplace upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 - but it hasn't fixed it.

And yet when I share the same folder to a friend on Windows 10, they see it as a folder, not a short cut.

I don't know why it works correctly on some Windows 10/11 PCs, but not others.

I really would like to know how to roll back to before whatever broke this.

    Come-on Microsoft!! What's the fix?

So what is the fix or conclusion here, I still don't understand. Do we have to unintlstall and reinstall onedrive or update somehow. Does it automatically update?? Our shared folders within file Explorer are still just linking to the browser.

Will the shared folder issues within the OneDrive mobile app be resolved as part of this? We have also lost ability to move, copy and scan files withing a shared folder in the mobile app.

    Thanks.

This is the fundamental problem - there is NOTHING we can do. It's just waiting for Microsoft to transition all accounts over to the new system and then it will start working again. The problem is Microsoft have not shared any timescales of how long and when this will happen.

So glad it's not just me then - spent all morning tearing my hair out trying to figure out why I'd lost sight of the shared folder in file explorer on one laptop but not on the other. What a right royal pain in the backside!!

Okay that is interesting. I just finished a live chat with a Microsoft agent and he told me the engineering team is working to resolve the issue. Hopefully they get things figured out!

Just got off the phone with Microsoft.

They have discontinued the ability to do file sharing through file explorer.
