A shared folder in one drive, cannot be synced to explorer. Option no longer available

Good morning,

I am an experienced IT professional.

I have already confirmed permissions to one drive folders are fine.

And, one drive has been reinstalled etc.

The account in question is just a free outlook.com account.

Issue - You used to be able to see a sync option on the web access for any shared folders.

The folder was shared from another free one drive account.

This is no longer there.

I can add a shortcut, that is all.

And while the user can in indeed click on the shortcut to access files, the access is ONLY web access.

From my reading of other blogs, I assume that Microsoft no longer allow one drive free to sync shared folders to explorer?

And I need to advise my client to move to sharepoint. - or, a 365 business account.

    I've been suffering this problem since June and had hoped that as it's part of a paid for 365 subscription, it would've been fixed with some urgency. My wife and I had been using shared folders synchronised across our respective PCs, We've now moved to Google Drive, as the 15GB each on the free service is sufficient for our needs. We'll also be reviewing whether to continue our subscription, as the functional updates to Office 365 are minimal and irritating!

    Thanks to all of the responses.

    The replies coming in have just confirmed the changes Microsoft have made.

    Which in this case of change, are a damn inconvienience to the clients I support.

    This is crazy - we have a family subscription.

    1 shared folder is actually a real folder

    and from another account a shared folder is just a link.

    Please microsoft this is going on for months now - fix this nonsense you created..
