I am using a Macbook Air, last week I tried the free trial of the copilot, but since I don't find it helpful, and even my word keeps on lagging, now I want to disable the copilot.
I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft 365, and several tips on the internet, but none of them is working. The copilot is still there. and I find it so annoying.
Can someone help me to show me the way to disable the copilot, please?
Thank you!

See solution below - I have now turned Copilot off!!!
Still frustrated, I was looking in my settings again (January 2025), and there is a new option!
[Moderator's note: This came out with update 2501.]
File Tab > Options (at bottom), then in the Word Options window > Copilot, then uncheck Enable Copilot.
The silly inline prompt was gone, and the Copilot icon in the toolbar greyed out! Yay!
I then right-clicked on the ribbon, and went Customise the Ribbon, then from the Home Tab, I just removed the Group that contained the Copilot Icon, I think it was called Assistance (gone now so not 100% sure).
Hopefully this is now available for other people too!
I see Subscriptions but no Services and Subscriptions and when I click on Subscriptions Copilot only shows up as an ad to get it. This is infuriating. I didn't ask for the app, don't want it, and it interferes with my work. Enough! I can easily cancel my Office business and move to Pages, etc, so please fix this!!!
Options isn't showing up under the File icon.

there is no Services and Subscriptions folder in my Microsoft Outlook account.
