How to disable copilot on microsoft office (excel, word, ppt) on Macbook

And that is exactly what is totally wrong with this whole situation.
They added it without asking. Moved people onto a more expensive plan when they did so. Give people no option to control it.
The screenshot attached is when I search preferences on Mac for Copilot control.
Absolutely nothing.
This is wrong and harks back to the integrated Internet Explorer issue that cost Microsoft, what was it, nearly 1/2 a billion dollars, in anti-trust fines.
We can't do such things here in Australia but in the US you should be considering a class action.

Thanks for that. When I searched about disabling Copilot on Word that result came up and similarly with Edge I was able to Google an answer. But I am having trouble with disabling it on Excel. It's on the ribbon but I can't find it under the File/Options/Copilot like I did in word. When I actually ask Copilot in Excel how to disable it, not suggestions come up. When I Google a solution, I'm sent to this page which is mostly users frustrated posts about the inconvenience and audacity of installing it unasked and it affecting peoples professional work with hardly any responses from Microsoft.

Thanks for that, after 40 odd minutes of growing frustration (I know I didn't have nowhere near the frustration you and other users on here have had) I have removed it from Excel. Let's hope it stays disabled.

To all frustrated respondents to this post, I have found a way to turn it off!!!!

It is in this article: Copilot in Microsoft 365 apps for home: Your data and privacy

At the bottom, under "Your Privacy Settings and CoPilot" is listed what you need to do:

i.e.: Open any of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, or OneNote

Click File then select Account (at the bottom, above Feedback and Options)

On your Account page, under Account Privacy click the Manage Settings button

Then, under "Connected Experiences" you need to turn off:

• Experiences that analyse content, and
• All connected experiences

Click OK

You will be warned about all the bells and whistles you're going to miss out on, but its so easy to turn on and off, you could, for instance, turn them off, write and submit your thesis, then turn them on again?

There is some semblance of control after all!

I only use Excel and Word but CoPilot is no longer interupting my edits in either!

Please note: As far as I know, this applies only when you’re using Copilot in Microsoft 365 apps for home*.*

tanya_55, I thank you so much for your post as it was indeed a 95% successful. Unfortunately, it was on the 3rd page of posts though. After making those changes via MS Word, then clicking OK, it prompted to automatically restart. That link if you choose to not go says to:

"Clear the "Enable Copilot" checkbox on Windows devices

1. In your app (for example, Word), go to File > Options > Copilot.
2. Clear the Enable Copilot checkbox.
3. Select OK, and then close and restart the app."
