How to disable copilot on microsoft office (excel, word, ppt) on Macbook

There is no copilot on the right side of the page

This thing is horrible! It have to be instantly deleted! Nobody asked you for this "UPGRADE"!

Like most of the other commenters here, I had Copilot appear in my Microsoft 365 apps without my authorizing it or wanting it. I have ZERO use for AI assistance and resent having it foisted upon me just because Microsoft thinks it's cool. Moreover, given what I do for a living—science editing—having this tool on my system represents a risk to my livelihood, as I have no control over what data it accesses. I want it gone YESTERDAY and it's appalling that you make it so difficult to remove for users who don't want it.

Microsoft has an atrocious habit of meddling with useful and functional software to introduce new features that they don't ever ask their users' feedback on. And every time you guys do this, I have to re-learn the damn interface. The ONLY reason I haven't kicked y'all to the curb is because Word and Excel are ubiquitous in the areas I work in, so I'm obligated to interact with them.

I found co-pilot to be very similar to mosquito at 1 am when your trying to sleep. But after some research I found what worked for me, I have an HP Desktop.

1 open word

2 go to files on the top left And a side bar should open.

3 all the way down at the bottom there’s an “options” button, click on it.

4 on the left side should be a side bar with an option “copilot” click on it and uncheck the copilot box.

This has so far only worked on my newest computer.

Thanks for the suggestion but this does not work Mac users. There is not OPTIONS button in the Mac version. But thanks for sharing.
