I am using a Macbook Air, last week I tried the free trial of the copilot, but since I don't find it helpful, and even my word keeps on lagging, now I want to disable the copilot.
I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft 365, and several tips on the internet, but none of them is working. The copilot is still there. and I find it so annoying.
Can someone help me to show me the way to disable the copilot, please?

The customise ribbon option does not exist on Mac OS version.
Yes, It's easy enough to get the icon out of the ribbon - but can't get the stupid liitle thing at the beginning of each line. I'm concerned that it is embedded in my work even though I treat it **** poison.
I found a program called Libre Office - it's free, and you can open all Word, Excel, Publisher etc documents in it. And it hasn't got the Copilot thing - I am cancelling my Office subscription and changing over to that.
Thanks for this, appreciate the help! It's gone now from my ribbon, but I still get the frustrating little Copilot icon at the start of every line 'asking' if it can take over my humanity. *sigh* It is RIDICULOUS that you can remove it from the ribbon, turn off all the privacy items and STILL have it there! I have 'downgraded' to the Word version without all this BS (that costs the same as the pre-Copilot price), but that will still be a couple of weeks off. Wish I could just change to another program altogether, but I have clients who need me to use it.
For anyone still coming here for a solution after doing a google search....ignore all of the other suggestions. It's probably AI responding in the thread.
ANYWAY, I finally found a little way to at least hide the stupid copilot button in Office apps. Annoyed I didn't figure it out sooner. Sure, it's probably running in the background but if you disable the other suggested items in privacy...it might disable it enough.
Whether on Windows or Mac, bring up the Customise Ribbon interface and simply remove "Assistance" from the Home drop-down. It will be below Add-ins, most likely, assuming you don't have anything else on the ribbon to the right of it. Select Assistance, click the << Remove button, click OK.
