How to disable copilot on microsoft office (excel, word, ppt) on Macbook

I went to Word, then Options. Did not find any way to turn off Copilot.

Where exactly is that option within "options?"

I understand that you want to disable copilot in Microsoft Office applications after trying it and feeling that it affects word loading speed. Copilot is a new feature which is designed to provide users with smarter and more personalized assistive functions through Artificial Intelligence technology that provides users with smarter, more personalized assistance functions that increase productivity and creativity. However, if you don't need this feature after trying it out and still want to disable copilot you can do so by following the instructions below:

• log in to Microsoft account | Services & subscriptions
• click on your Services & Subscriptions on the left navigation bar (below)
• find copilot on the right side of the page and disable it.

Your advice is wrong and/or outdated. No such option appears where you say it does.

Also, the alternative advice to turn off Connected Experiences also not help. In Excel, the Copilot UI features remain, the only difference is that they now pop up the advice to turn Connected Experiences back on.

For all others: There may be some light on the horizon. In Word, in Options, an actual option to turn off Copilot has been added. This does indeed disable Copilot functions, it seems. M$ claims that this option will be added to other Office apps over the course of February. I rooting for OneNote in particular, as Copilot is particularly overbearing there.

My comment wasn't intended to be specific to Apple or any other company. I was referring to all of the tech oligarchs--Microsoft, Apple, Twitter (yes, Twitter), Tik Tok, Amazon, FaceBook, and the rest. We have or will all be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

Yep. Hey folks, don’t reinvent the wheel, the efforts and attempts have already been made! THERE is NO WAY to be sure you’ve removed COPILOT unless you completely cancel your subscription as I did two days ago (a huge weight off) and instead use a single-purchase MSOffice version (not 2024) or an alternative to Microsoft, without Copilot. To just ‘turn it off’, if you can, in your Current sub means you’re still paying for it and perhaps it’ll reappear in future updates. Don’t pay for it if you object to it! This unsolicited AI infestation is definitely a consumer rights issue.

I blew my stack totally last night.
Opened my iPad to find... see attached.
My Office Suite has been replaced by 365 Copilot.

No notification. No authorization. Just added in an auto-update.
There is no setting to disable or remove it.
So Microsoft has now, without my permission, installed spyware on all of the machines I use.
I have sent an e-mail to the Federal Minister responsible for Consumer Affairs.
I suggest people stop chasing their tails complaining here and that they write to their government representatives about this.
