I am using a Macbook Air, last week I tried the free trial of the copilot, but since I don't find it helpful, and even my word keeps on lagging, now I want to disable the copilot.
I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft 365, and several tips on the internet, but none of them is working. The copilot is still there. and I find it so annoying.
Can someone help me to show me the way to disable the copilot, please?

Thanks for that, after 40 odd minutes of growing frustration (I know I didn't have nowhere near the frustration you and other users on here have had) I have removed it from Excel. Let's hope it stays disabled.
Thanks for that. When I searched about disabling Copilot on Word that result came up and similarly with Edge I was able to Google an answer. But I am having trouble with disabling it on Excel. It's on the ribbon but I can't find it under the File/Options/Copilot like I did in word. When I actually ask Copilot in Excel how to disable it, not suggestions come up. When I Google a solution, I'm sent to this page which is mostly users frustrated posts about the inconvenience and audacity of installing it unasked and it affecting peoples professional work with hardly any responses from Microsoft.

And that is exactly what is totally wrong with this whole situation.
They added it without asking. Moved people onto a more expensive plan when they did so. Give people no option to control it.
The screenshot attached is when I search preferences on Mac for Copilot control.
Absolutely nothing.
This is wrong and harks back to the integrated Internet Explorer issue that cost Microsoft, what was it, nearly 1/2 a billion dollars, in anti-trust fines.
We can't do such things here in Australia but in the US you should be considering a class action.
I am also having trouble disabling copilot. Along with simply not wanting the feature, I have ethical conflictions with AI because of its negative impact on the environment. I am also in a creative career so I have I have ethical conflictions with it in that regard as well. I understand it may be helpful for some, but I do not understand why it feels impossible to disable.
I called to try to disable this and was told that there was no way to address my concern via their automated assistant. When I asked to speak to a live agent the phone hung up.
I tried to contact Microsoft support via a live chat. I expressed that I wanted the feature disabled when prompted for my reason for the chat. I waited over an hour for a response despite the wait time being 13 minutes only to follow up and see that the ticket was closed before an agent even spoke to me. There were two people in front of me as well and I'm assuming they were addressed as I saw the countdown going down until I was "the next person in line" only to realize that I had been waiting for something that would not be addressed.
Not to mention how utterly distracting the toggle is. Why is this so hard to disable and why is Microsoft blatantly ignoring users/giving the run-around for those who do not want to use AI?
