This does not work, there is no option to disable or do anything at all.

I am using a Macbook Air, last week I tried the free trial of the copilot, but since I don't find it helpful, and even my word keeps on lagging, now I want to disable the copilot.
I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft 365, and several tips on the internet, but none of them is working. The copilot is still there. and I find it so annoying.
Can someone help me to show me the way to disable the copilot, please?
Thank you!

I'm using Mac Sonoma, and can't find any add-ins to turn off in Word preferences, can you please elaborate?
I tried the Mac OS solution, turned off relevant privacy settings several times, closed word several times.
It's. still. there !!!!!
I have the same problem too. No option to disable it. I've been searching and haven't found a solution yet. It's so frustrating!
I'm using a Mac and the steps your mention don't exist, under 'file' there is no option for account.
