How to disable copilot on microsoft office (excel, word, ppt) on Macbook

I am using a Macbook Air, last week I tried the free trial of the copilot, but since I don't find it helpful, and even my word keeps on lagging, now I want to disable the copilot.

I have already tried to uninstall and reinstall Microsoft 365, and several tips on the internet, but none of them is working. The copilot is still there. and I find it so annoying.

Can someone help me to show me the way to disable the copilot, please?

Thank you!

I am in the same situation. I am trying to write a thesis in Word and cannot get rid of the huge Copilot logo in the left-hand margin which moves down with every strike of the return button.

    It is absolutely infuriating.

Please give an option to turn this stupid thing off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Hannah,

I am in complete agreement with all the respondents to this post.

Your 'fix' does not work. It obviously never did and months later, it still doesn't. The ultimate insult though - the only 'option' available to 'manage' Copilot in Services and Subscriptions - upgrade to Pro and pay for the priviledge!

I have only experienced CoPilot forcing itself, unbidden, into my every edit, for one morning. Two hours later - I hate it enough to post a reply to this forum, something I have never even contemplated doing before in my life.

Come on Microsoft, far from increasing productivity CoPilot is intruding, frustrating and summarily detracting from it! I'm not against AI per say, I bought a CoPilot PC for goodness sake! I thought I would still be in charge?

Given a choice we might even get to like it?

    SUCCESS!!!

To all frustrated respondents to this post, I have found a way to turn it off!!!!

It is in this article: Copilot in Microsoft 365 apps for home: Your data and privacy

At the bottom, under "Your Privacy Settings and CoPilot" is listed what you need to do:

i.e.: Open any of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, or OneNote

Click File then select Account (at the bottom, above Feedback and Options)

On your Account page, under Account Privacy click the Manage Settings button

Then, under "Connected Experiences" you need to turn off:

    • Experiences that analyse content, and
    • All connected experiences

    Click OK

You will be warned about all the bells and whistles you're going to miss out on, but its so easy to turn on and off, you could, for instance, turn them off, write and submit your thesis, then turn them on again?

There is some semblance of control after all!

I only use Excel and Word but CoPilot is no longer interupting my edits in either!

Please note: As far as I know, this applies only when you’re using Copilot in Microsoft 365 apps for home*.*

I'm jumping on this bandwagon, too.

Do not want this. Did not ask for it. Want it GONE.

Went to Microsoft account to disable it, and it's only showing where I can ADD it to apps. No option to disable.

I'll be jumping SHIP if this BS can't be removed.

    Quick fix or I'm out.
