How to disable copilot on microsoft office (excel, word, ppt) on Macbook

NONE of this works. In addition, Microsoft has cut off copilot support on all phone numbers. The system refuses to send you to a live customer representative and then hangs up. In the US, the numbers:
855.270.0615, 800.865.9408, 800.642.7676...People we need to be prepared to take this to our elected representatives and the Federal Trade Commission.

JUST FYI - THERE ARE AT LEAST 4 THINGS THAT WORK FOR JUST A VERY FEW PEOPLE and a 5th option that I have no clue about.

1. UNCHECK "ENABLE COPILOT" UNDER OPTIONS

In Word navigate to File > Options > Copilot > Uncheck box next to enable Copilot.

Many of us do not have a "Copilot" option ANYWHERE under options. A few said it comes back again.

2. CANCELLING CURRENT SUBSCRIPTION AND GOING BACK TO CLASSIC.

You have to wait until your current subscription ends before it will change UNLESS you call and talk to a live person who may be able to get it switched right away. This "appears" to have been the most effective option so far. EXCEPT that the last comment on this a few pages back indicated that MS Customer Disservice may no longer do this now.

3. UNCHECK "CONNECTED EXPERIENCES"

File >Account

On your Account page, under Account Privacy click the Manage Settings button

Then, under "Connected Experiences" you need to turn off:

• Experiences that analyse content, and
• All connected experiences

Click OK

RESTART

Again, does not work for most people, including me. For some, it works at first and then stops working.

Some have alleged that removing Copilot/analytics from the "Ribbon" stops Copilot. Removing a shortcut made zero sense to me, but I desperately tried it anyway. Failed of course. Right-clicking on it didn't give me any options either.

4. CHANGING COPILOT FILE FOLDER AND/OR GROUP POLICY INFO

There are at least 4 slightly different ways to do this. However, I have Windows 10/MS365 on a 2 year old laptop and not one single method (including a couple that very specifically say Windows 10) works. Some show information/options that doesn't match what I see on my computer, so I can't even attempt it.

5. CHANGING REGISTRY INFO

There are at least 4-5 slightly different ways to do this according to numerous well-known computer tech sites. I didn't even consider doing this based on how unsuccessful options 1-4 were and, more especially, I wouldn't really know what I was doing. If you are computer savvy, perhaps you might be able to try this and be able to recover if it doesn't work right.

If Microsoft is so stupid as to stop us from migrating off their invasive AI product, that's illegal - and they should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission. Which I'm about ready to do.

I got a live person. He said he couldn't do it. I think they are even trying to stop that option. Because they spent lots of $$$$ on developing this stupid thing and promised their shareholders HUGE returns. If everyone drops it, they won't have those huge returns.

TOTALLY agree. I am ENRAGED at what Microsoft has done shoving this AI **** down our throats and scraping our content without our consent. If this isn't illegal, it should be.
