Folder Shared With Anyone Can't Download All, Can Only Download One At A Time

Sharing a OneDrive folder with a client and I've set the permission to "Anyone with link can download" and they don't have an download option. If they navigate into a folder and select a file, they get a Download link. If they select two files, the Download link disappears. So they can have to download files one at a time.

Their spouse, who is logged in to their Microsoft account, can download.

This is clearly a bug. Please fix this bug ASAP.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Make sure you're not logged in to your Microsoft account
  2. Click this link: Link to OneDrive folder with 2 files in it
  3. Select one file: You'll note there's a Download button
  4. Select the other file: Download button goes away
  5. Deselect all files and select the button next to the folder. No Download button.

    was looking to come back to onedrive from google drive as google drive wont upload more then a few files in one instance (feature)

    one drive is much faster but now my clients need to log in to download all ?

    glad i stumbled upon this post...

    looks like moving to dropbox ??!

    6 March 2025 and still unresolved.

    Downloading files one at a time isn't an acceptable 'feature' for a file sharing, cloud storage app Microsoft.

    Hallo

    Has this issue been resolved?

    I need to share loads of files with clients on a daily basis and it, is very time consuming if they need to download each file individually, instead of just downloading the folder I shared with them?

    Please help as I moved away form dropbox - and now this is an issue!

    If this is not resolved I would need to move back and It is a very big inconvenience!

    Microsoft has told me this is "as designed." Use Dropbox instead, I guess. Or zip up files.

    I need to share 300+ files grouped in several subfolders with a client with no Microsoft account.

    The "Download" button only shows up when you select 1 file. So you need to select file, then click download 300+ times...

    Microsoft has (finally) told me recently that this is a "feature." As designed. They claim it's for security when we all know it's just a scummy way to inconvenience people in the name of data gathering.

    My solution was to use Dropbox instead.

    Alternatively, yes, you can zip things up and increase your local storage use.

    I suppose one could create a second account and give the credentials to your clients to use.

    I will be canceling my Office subscription when it's up. And will forever be telling people to find alternatives to Microsoft products.
