I updated (elevated command prompt method) to Build 17830.20166 plus I installed the Patch Tuesday fare for Windows 10; KB5041580 and KB5042352.

Exactly the same for me, but in my case Error 30088-27 is gone.

So, when you manually check for updates in Office, you're now seeing the "You're Up to Date" Message?

Zero change; error code 30088-27 persists.

At this point, I'd settle for just an official statement from MS, to the effect, "We're investigating an issue that inhibits the update feature in the MS Office Suite of programs and Microsoft 365".

    Hello everybody.

I've been following this thread from the beginning.

My Office 2021 has been affected from Update error code 30088-27 since Build 17726.20126. Today I updated to Build 17830.20166 using the manual procedure described in this thread. In the meantime, my Win 10 also updated to KB5041580 and KB5042352 ("Patch Tuesday").

After these updates, Update error code 30088-27 is gone. Puff! Just like that. Vanished just as mysteriously as it'd come.

Just wanted to let you guys know.

    David

Interesting. Those patches are what caused the issue for me again.

Check your Office settings and make sure that the Options > General > Privacy Settings.. screen has the "All connected experiences" option enabled so that you can then enable the "Experiences that download online content" option. (These are the steps for my Office 2016 Professional Plus running on Windows 10.) This should allow you to access the online Help system.

I was going to try this but when I hit the Privacy Settings button, the program crashes (Outlook, Excel, Word...). ??

If office is blocked in your firewall unblock it. Same thing happened to me and then once you allow Word or whatever program through, the privacy settings will show up.

This did not work for me here.

Update: A computer restart seemed to have done it.
