Did the online repair and it de-registered my entire office suite, took me a while to track down my activation code.
AND it still isn't updating.
Regarding the Help issue - I'm no longer getting the GP error on the machine affected by the update problem, but now it says that the service required for it is turned off. Does anyone know what service is required to be turned on? I haven't had time to compare the active services on that machine with one of the others and I'm not sure I have the patience to go through the list of services on two machines to find the difference.
I'm running Office 2021, Version 2046 (Build 17726.20160 Click-to-Run) on an HP Pavilion 15.
In my attempts to fix this, I ended up wiping my disk and doing a clean reinstall of Windows 11 Home 23H2 and Office 2021.
I immediately ran into the same error that started my desperate steps seeking a solution. And since I directly installed this version on a clean system, I can't revert Office, even if I wanted to (I don't).
I don't know if anyone else is having the concurrent error that I am having, but when I click into the Help menu tab and then click on the Help(?) button, I get the following error: "This command isn't available. Your organization's administrator turned off the service required for this feature."
The only problem is I'm not part of any organization and have a fresh, clean install of Windows and haven't turned anything off.
Can anyone who can't update let me know if they have the same problem?
Thank you.
Sounds like the install either set a GPO or put something in the registry that blocks the help, but I just checked mine and it's doing the same thing. I know there are no Group Policies set. However, I don't think I've ever used the Help before, so I can't say.
I just checked on one of my other machines and the Help doesn't work, but it gives a message that "something went wrong" instead of the Group Policy message. I then checked the update and it's downloading an update to install.
This thing is getting out of hand with all kinds of weird glitches.
Just tried Help again on both working machines after installing the update and it worked fine. I'm lost.
By act of GOD, I just ran the update in 3 of our PCs and they all ran well. We will do the same to customers after hours and report back.
Let us know, Pedro. I just tried it again on my three machines and no change - two worked fine, the third failed.
