Update error code 30088-27 Office 2021 what to do to get corrected????

After trying everything listed on this thread, EXCEPT updating to the latest version and build using elevated command, I decided to once again do an online repair. After it completed I verified I now have 2407 (17830.20138) for Office. I tried the update now, and believe it or not, I didn't get the 30088-27 error, I got the message you are up to date!!!!!

I'm running Office 2021 Pro Retail 64-bit version, on my Windows 11 Desktop.

Just thought I'd share my latest to this confusing mess. Don't know if this is permanent, as I just finished the repair about an hour ago, but I clicked on update now several times and keep getting I'm up to date, NOT 30088-27.

Forgot to mention. At the time of online repair I left the "Experiences that download online content" and "All connected experiences" turned ON. Not sure if the repair would have had the same effect if I had them turned off.

I sympathize intensely with the heroic Pedro and Prius, and Don earlier, and anyone else who said that they were going to wait for MSFT to fix this.

Speaking for myself only, of course, I feel as if I have no choice, I have tried absolutely everything I can think of, including all suggestions in this thread and a couple of others, to no avail. Hence, I have no choice but to wait for a fix from MSFT; nothing is working for me here.

Again, just my opinion but I don't mind the subscription model if done correctly by the vendor. That model provides the developer with needed resources to continue improving and supporting the product. However, it can definitely be abused since the developer is free to use a large percentage of those funds as free cash flow rather than using the bulk for support and enhancements,

Well, eb (may I call you that?), I agree with you. I suspect one of MS' goals is to eliminate the perpetual licenses so that everyone has to use Office 365. I'm glad that I'm retired and no longer need the latest and greatest in software and, though I enjoy keeping my local network up to date and the data on the various machines synced automatically, I also am pretty sure when support ends for Office 2019 next year that I will just keep using it instead of upgrading to a newer version and that when is no longer usable, I will just revert to the shareware stuff even though I will lose a lot of my network versatility and syncing.

Upgrading Office is always a pain. I have written many database programs and Word and Excel scripts that helped me tremendously in my business that suddenly became useless when a new version of Office comes out with new script requirements that are more complex than I as a non-technical user want to learn or had the time in a small business to learn.

Well, I've finished this entire thread. It's 10:28 PM EDT on August 2, 2024.

I see in the 3 or 4 pages since Simcha-Yitzchak's initial post about the Help question, that "Enabling Connected Experiences" (cute euphemism) has helped people access Help AND also perhaps fixed the update problem that triggered this entirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre thread. So I might try that -- but not tonight.

But I might try the Connected Experiences tactic anyway, next time I'm on this PC, tomorrow evening or Sunday. I'll report back on what happens.

PS -- Someone earlier asked what use this forum was if MSFT wasn't paying attention to it. I'll tell you. It assures us that we're not going through this madness alone. It enables us to see other smart people try things. Sometimes great minds do think alike.

PPS -- I agree completely with the people who prefer perpetual licenses. But MSFT screws up even those. I'm so fed up with Win 10 and Office 2019 that I've paid someone to preserve my Win 7 PC with Office 2010 on it, and I'm going to keep it off the internet so I can always have a stable, familiar environment to fall back on when I need it for my long-term projects. I've given 35 years over to MSFT, but now they've clearly lost control of their products, and subscriptions and AI are going to make things even worse. Life's too short to spend my remaining couple of decades under the whims of MSFT's ineptitude.

The setting about "Download Online Content" mentions things like templates. Nothing about Help.

And I can't enable that without enabling "All Connected Experiences", which I certainly don't want to do.

The MSFT site says this about online content:

These are experiences that allow you to search and download online content including templates, images, 3D models, Microsoft 365 help, videos, and reference materials to enhance your documents. Excel's rich data types or Outlook's weather info are examples of these kinds of experiences.
