Just got this from MS .... have not tried

    Hello Pedro,

Good day to you. After completing my research, I have found a lot of cases with update issues for Office 365 Version 2406 (Build 17726.20126) on my end. These cases were recently resolved by running an online repair. Kindly try running an Online Repair and see how it goes. Please let us know once the Online Repair is complete.

    Kind regards,

I tried this suggestion numerous times on two machines and it just didn't work.

I appreciate you forwarding the response from Tech Support but am kind of surprised to learn that they don't know that doesn't work for everyone.

Has MS chimed in to indicate they are working on a solution?

No, they have not. Some users have been able to resolve the issue on their own, but MS has not posted anything relative to a patch, fix, or other resolution.

Hopefully, they're working on one, though.

Well - here it is Aug 6th and I presume no solution yet for this issue.

I have been following this string and haven't looked at all of the entries. Has MS chimed in to indicate they are working on a solution?

    UPDATE 8/7/24

I contacted MS support regarding this issue. I had a tech remote into my system. I showed them the error. After examining my system, confirming my license key I was told my application was working and should receive updates when they are available, but they offered no other explanation why this was occurring and unable to perform a manual update.

Additionally, this reactivates OneDrive, which is something a lot of people do NOT want.

    Hi Panther6834,

Yeah, I don't want it and uninstalled OneDrive. Now, I just looked in Apps and, sure enough, OneDrive is back. I thought the uninstall would do the trick but, no, it came back after I was messing around with settings in order to get Office to Update.

Is there a way to get rid of OneDrive forever?

EDIT: Never mind. I found the setting in the Group Policy Editor
