    Hi Uwe,

    I just got the same update on two machines (I checked manually). I have all privacy settings disabled and OneDrive uninstalled. FWIW.......

    I have the same issue with Office 2019. I followed the steps, tried repair, and uninstall- reinstall. After reinstalling, activation would not work!!! Would prompt for password, then load up a gray screen, and then loop back to login over and over with no access to Office 2019. Luckily, an earlier restore point with a 2 hour sysem restore got me access to Office 2019. Will wait for a fix which they had best come up with soon.

    mschmieg et all,

    The uninstall and reinstall NEVER worked for me. My apologies if I mislead you.

    But, if it did for you, could you detail every step? I am installing directly from the M365 portal, so I have no access to a MSI package.

    Regarding Online Repair, I tried both. No love.

    For what it's worth, I did find two entries in the registry that MAY provide help, but probably not.

    In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\UpdateStatus, there are two entries on the affected machine that are not present on my other two. Both appear to be result entries giving information to the software:

    UpdateDetectionLastException="88
    "UpdateDetectionLastHResult="0

    Whether that information can help anyone identify the source of the problem is beyond my knowledge.

    Dear Daniel

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

    Hello, I'm Linn, here to help you solve your problem. According to the error message prompted by Office2021 in the question, I think this seems to be an error caused by a network problem.

    It is recommended that you change the network settings to fix the problem:

    • Try to change to another network environment, such as a network hotspot;
    • Set the DNS server (remember to reset it to automatic after the problem is solved): press Windows+R and enter ncpa.cpl
    • Click the name of the network you are currently connected to, open the Network Status window, click Properties, double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4) in the Network Properties window, change Automatically obtain DNS to "4.2.2.1" and "4.2.2.2", and then click "OK".
    • Reset network settings: Enter the following command in Windows PowerShell (Administrator), and then restart the device: netsh int ip reset netsh winsock reset

    Please try the above preliminary network solutions. This is not a complete solution.

    Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution. Being patient will be a factor in eventually solving the problem.

    Sincerest greetings

    Linn |Microsoft Community Support Specialist
